Pre Wedding Photoshoot in Rome with Natsuki and John
When it comes to a pre wedding photoshoot in Rome, every story is different, and that’s what makes it so special. Natsuki, from Japan, and John, from the UK, chose the Eternal City as the backdrop for their session, and I had the privilege to capture their journey through some of Rome’s most iconic streets and piazzas.

We met at 8am in the morning, the perfect time to avoid the summer heat and the crowds. At first, Natsuki and John were among the shyest couples I’ve ever worked with, a challenge I always enjoy as a wedding photographer in Rome. In the beginning, they were quiet and a little nervous in front of the camera, but after a few gentle moments on Ponte Sisto, they started to relax, and their genuine connection began to shine through.
Walking through Trastevere, Natsuki shared with me that in Japan, it’s uncommon for couples to hug and kiss in public, while in Italy such gestures are natural and frequent. These cultural exchanges are one of the things I love most about my work: photography is not only about capturing images but also about listening, learning, and telling stories through emotions.
Our route took us from Trastevere to Campo de’ Fiori and Piazza Navona, weaving through cobblestone streets, morning light, and lively Roman squares. Every corner of the city gave us a new scene to work with, from candid laughter to elegant portraits framed by historic architecture. Throughout the day, I photographed Natsuki and John using both my digital and film cameras, creating a mix of modern sharpness and timeless analogue charm.
We completed our loop back in Trastevere, where we ended the session at one of the most iconic places in Rome: Bar San Calisto. For decades, Bar San Calisto has been the beating heart of Trastevere, a place where locals gather for coffee, where artists, students, and travelers cross paths, and where the atmosphere is always welcoming and unpretentious. It’s a true Roman institution, known for its affordable drinks, vintage charm, and timeless community spirit.
That morning, we were lucky enough to meet Marcello Forti, the most famous face of Bar San Calisto. He has been part of the soul of the bar for years, greeting everyone with warmth and a smile. Taking photos of Natsuki and John with him was the perfect ending to a day that mixed love, culture, and the authentic Roman lifestyle. The staff, as always, were friendly, and Natsuki especially found the place inspiring and fun.
As a Rome wedding photographer working with couples from all over the world, sessions like this remind me why Rome is one of the most romantic cities for a pre wedding photoshoot. Between its history, its light, and its people, there’s no better stage to celebrate love.
If you are planning a pre wedding photoshoot in Rome or anywhere in Italy, I would love to tell your story in the same authentic, natural, and timeless way.
