Pre-wedding Photoshoot in Florence with Poon and Nicko
There is a quiet magic to Florence in the early morning. The sound of cups at Scudieri, the first scent of espresso in the air, and the soft light reflecting off the ancient stone streets set the tone for the day. That is how our morning began with Poon and Nicko, a lovely couple from Bangkok visiting Italy for their pre wedding photoshoot.
We met at Scudieri, one of the historical cafés of Florence that has been open since 1929. Over our first espresso, we talked about how they wanted their session to feel: simple, intimate, and true to them. Since they were a bit shy in front of the camera, we decided together to avoid the most crowded tourist spots and instead explore the quieter corners of the city. This gave them space to relax and enjoy a few calm moments together while being photographed.
As their couple photographer in Italy, my goal was to document their connection as naturally as possible. We walked through the hidden alleys and small piazzas, finding beautiful light and quiet details that reflected the soul of Florence. I photographed them using both digital and 35mm film cameras, capturing the blend of timeless texture and cinematic warmth that film brings to each frame.
The session lasted just over two hours. We ended it with ice cream, though the gelateria we had planned to visit was closed. Instead, we found another one nearby, laughed about it, and continued walking back toward their accommodation. That is where we stumbled upon two colorful vintage cars parked side by side, and we took one of the most spontaneous and joyful shots of the entire morning.
It was a morning filled with light, calm, and authenticity. Just two people in love, enjoying the quiet beauty of Florence. I truly hope to see Poon and Nicko again somewhere in Italy or Europe, to hear about their married life and maybe photograph the next chapter of their story.
