A Micro Wedding in Rome at Chiesa di San Paolo entro le Mura

Ariam and Keenan got married in Rome, inside the beautiful Chiesa di San Paolo entro le Mura, surrounded by their closest family. It was the kind of micro wedding that felt intimate, honest, and completely personal. No unnecessary noise, no forced moments, just the people who mattered most and a city that already knows how to hold a love story.

Before the wedding day, Ariam told me she loved my photos and did not want to brief me too much. She simply said, “I want you to tell the story of the day.”

As a wedding photographer in Rome, I could not ask for more than that. I was very happy to follow my own intuition while photographing their micro wedding day. So that is what I did.

Micro Wedding Photography in Rome

A micro wedding in Rome has a very special rhythm. Everything feels closer. The emotions are easier to notice. The small gestures become more important. A look from a parent, a hand held for a little longer, a quiet smile inside the church, a glass of wine after the ceremony.

For Ariam and Keenan, the day was not about creating a big production. It was about being present with their closest family and letting the story unfold naturally.

That is also how I love to photograph intimate weddings in Rome. I do not want to turn the day into something staged. I prefer to observe, follow the light, give soft direction when needed, and leave enough space for real moments to happen.

A Wedding Ceremony at Chiesa di San Paolo entro le Mura

Chiesa di San Paolo entro le Mura is one of those churches in Rome where the atmosphere does a lot by itself. The light, the colours, the quietness, the architecture, and the feeling of being slightly hidden inside the city all made the ceremony feel timeless.

During the wedding, I followed the little shifts in light inside the church, the quiet looks between Ariam and Keenan, and the way their families watched them. These are the kinds of moments I always look for as a documentary wedding photographer in Rome.

Not only the big moments, but also the small ones in between.

The waiting.
The glances.
The hands.
The silence before laughter.
The way people look at each other when they are truly happy.

Candid Wedding Photography Without Forced Posing

After the ceremony, we walked through the streets of Rome. Nothing felt rushed. Nothing felt overly planned. Just a walk through the city, a few soft directions, and enough space for Ariam and Keenan’s love, humour, passion, and ease to appear naturally.

This is why I love photographing micro weddings and intimate weddings in Rome. The city gives you texture, movement, light, shadows, old walls, small streets, and unexpected scenes. You do not need to force too much. You just need to be present enough to see what is already happening.

I photographed Ariam and Keenan with both digital and 35mm film cameras. Digital gave me flexibility throughout the day, while film added that soft, nostalgic, slightly imperfect feeling that fits Rome so well.

Digital and 35mm Film Wedding Photography in Rome

For this wedding, using both digital and 35mm film felt natural. Some moments needed speed and precision. Others felt right on film, with grain, softness, and a more timeless atmosphere.

Film photography has a way of slowing things down. It does not try to make everything perfect. And for a micro wedding like this, that felt right.

The shadows, the laughter, the wine glasses, the streets after the ceremony, the quiet family moments, and the small details all became part of the story.

Why I Love Photographing Micro Weddings in Rome

Micro weddings give people more space to actually feel the day. There is less pressure, less performance, and more presence. For couples who do not want a huge wedding, Rome can be the perfect place for something smaller but still deeply meaningful.

You can get married in a beautiful church, have a civil ceremony, walk through historic streets, share a long lunch or dinner with your closest people, and still have a wedding day that feels full.

Ariam and Keenan were the kind of couple who make everything feel simple in the best way. Their wedding was emotional, elegant, relaxed, and full of small moments that told the story better than any pose could.

Looking for a Micro Wedding Photographer in Rome?

If you are planning a micro wedding, intimate wedding, elopement, or small wedding in Rome, my approach is simple. I photograph the day as it feels.

I work in a candid and documentary way, using both digital and 35mm film photography when it fits the story. I give gentle direction when needed, but I never want the day to feel like a photoshoot from beginning to end.

Your wedding in Rome can be quiet, emotional, funny, elegant, imperfect, and completely yours. My job is to notice that and turn it into photographs you can return to.

Ariam and Keenan’s micro wedding in Rome was a pleasure to photograph, not only because of the beauty of the city or the church, but because of everything that happened in between.
