Love in Tuscany: A Couple Photoshoot in Montepulciano
When Celine first contacted me during the winter, she told me something that immediately struck my heart: her wedding day back in the Netherlands had been filled with heavy rain, and because of that, she and Mitchell didn’t have many wedding photos. That’s why this couple photoshoot in Montepulciano, Tuscany was so important to her. It wasn’t just a session, but a chance to create the memories they had been missing.
I knew the pressure was on.

Luckily, Montepulciano is a place I know intimately. I’ve visited countless times, and years ago I even lived here for three months during the wine grape harvest while working as a wine production intern. I know the streets, the hidden corners, the countryside roads, and the way the light falls across the rolling Tuscan hills. It’s one of those towns where romance is written into the stones.
When Celine first wrote to me, she explained why this photoshoot mattered so much. On their wedding day back in the Netherlands, it rained heavily from morning to evening. Mitchell had even ordered a tailored suit from Napoli, something he had been waiting for months, but it got soaked in the rain. They ended up with very few photos from their wedding day, and this time in Tuscany was their chance to finally create the memories they had been dreaming of. I knew the pressure was on.
We met in the afternoon and started things off in the most Italian way possible with drinks. Celine ordered an Aperol Spritz, I joined her, and Mitchell chose a beer. Conversation flowed easily. Mitchell is a car enthusiast, and as we walked through the streets, he pointed out Italian cars and shared their stories. It was both fun and fitting: Italian cars and Tuscan roads are a love story of their own.
As for Celine, she told me she was an air sign, and I could immediately feel how easy it was to connect with her. Since I am also an air sign, Aquarius, it felt natural to understand her energy and communicate effortlessly. We had the kind of connection that makes a photoshoot feel less like work and more like spending time with friends.
Our first stop was the historic center of Montepulciano, with its medieval arches, rustic stone walls, and charming streets. These corners are full of texture and romance, and they framed Celine and Mitchell perfectly. Whether it was sharing a quiet laugh in the alleyways, walking hand in hand along the old city walls, or pausing to take in the sweeping views of the Tuscan countryside, every shot told their story.
The Tuscan town itself became part of the narrative, the backdrop to their love.
From there, we drove into the countryside, on the road that stretches between Montepulciano and Pienza. This area is one of my personal favorites in Tuscany: endless rolling hills, olive groves, and the iconic cypress lined roads.
Here, Celine and Mitchell relaxed even more. They laughed, ran down the road together, embraced, and danced beneath the tall cypress trees. In the olive groves, they slowed down, sharing gentle moments and enjoying the beauty of the Tuscan landscape. These are the photos that truly capture the essence of a romantic couple photoshoot in Tuscany, authentic, joyful, and timeless.
When the session ended, I suggested them a few of my favorite local restaurants and wine bars to enjoy the evening. As for me, I returned to a small osteria I used to go to often when I lived here, enjoying a plate of traditional Tuscan food and a glass of Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, the wine that makes this place so famous.
Celine and Mitchell’s story is just one example of why Montepulciano is one of the best places in Italy for couple photography. Whether you’re celebrating an engagement, an anniversary, or simply want timeless photos together, this Tuscan town offers everything:
Romantic medieval streets
Breathtaking views over rolling hills
Iconic cypress roads and olive groves
Wine and food
For couples who want photos that feel authentic, full of laughter, and deeply tied to the beauty of Italy, a photoshoot in Montepulciano, Tuscany is an unforgettable experience.
