Playful Couple Photoshoot in Bologna Streets
Lisa is from Italy, Ahmet is from Turkey, and together they live in Dubai. They met there, and just before getting married in Bologna, they decided to celebrate their love with a couple photoshoot in Bologna. Lisa contacted me months ago because she wanted to surprise Ahmet with this gift. He already knew my work from Instagram and loved my photography style, so it felt like the perfect idea.
We set the date long in advance and finally met in Bologna on August 30th. To start the day in a relaxed way, we shared a glass of wine in Piazza Santo Stefano, one of the most charming corners of the city. From there, we began wandering through the streets, exploring the endless porticoes and lively piazzas.
Bologna is a city with a strong personality, known for its oppositional and revolutionary spirit. I always try to include the soul of the city in my photos, so when we passed by a wall with the writing “Orgoglio Antifascista”, I knew it would become part of their story. That’s how their couple photoshoot was not only about love, but also about the character of Bologna itself.
This city is also special to me for another reason: it was the starting point of La Via degli Dei, a historic hiking path that connects Bologna with Florence across the Apennine mountains. I walked the entire path in five days, and it remains one of my strongest memories. Including Bologna’s essence in my photography always feels deeply personal.
Even though Lisa and Ahmet are naturally a bit introverted, that first glass of wine worked wonders. They quickly relaxed and forgot about the people watching them while they kissed, laughed, and even danced in the streets. Under the iconic porticoes of Bologna, they simply let themselves be happy.
What I loved most was capturing the playfulness and joy that still lives inside them, like kids rediscovering the world. Their smiles, laughter, and natural chemistry made this Bologna couple photoshoot a true pleasure for me as a photographer.
For couples like Lisa and Ahmet, Bologna offers not only a stunning backdrop with its arcades, piazzas, and vibrant atmosphere, but also a chance to create memories that feel timeless and authentic.
